“A bus trip to Exeter and back in one day was a daunting prospect. Nearly twenty-four hours caged up together in a metal box on wheels, it could be too much, but as it turned out it was completely the opposite. Our visit to Sandy Park, for the 2018 Premiership Semi Final, will be remembered for a long time as one of the great trips to be made by the Supporters Club.
Thanks to a conveniently timed royal wedding, and the FA Cup Final at Wembley, the roads were deserted, and we arrived an hour ahead of schedule in brilliant sunshine. The locals were a very friendly lot, and Sandy Park an excellent stadium to share some pints, pasties and laughter with them. The consensus of opinion on the way down was that our team could do whatever they wanted and we would still be rightly proud of them just for getting us there at the end of an absolutely superb season. So it turned out, and we cheered them on during and after the game, hopefully sending them home feeling pretty good about themselves, as they should do after earning us not just top quality European rugby for next season, but a top four play-off to boot.
The bus was perfect for the long trip there and back, with superbly comfortable seats, plenty of room, and the best ‘facilities’ possible. This is a good point at which to thank Stanley Travel for their excellent service this season, good people to have on our team. It is also a good point to thank all of those who have travelled with us this season, a wonderful bunch who we are proud to take anywhere.
The return trip was as effortless as the trip down, the roads still being deserted, and we arrived at Kingston Park an hour ahead of schedule at a very respectable 1:30am. Now we know that a trip to our most distant Premiership rivals is not something to be afraid of, we will aim to head back down there again should the season calendar allow.
A special mention to Keith is very much in order, Saint Keith who calmly collects our garbled messages, texts, emails and phone calls, and magically conjures up an organised bus, everyone getting picked up from the various pick-up points, and delivered safely home again. It is one of the wonders of the modern world, and yet he makes it look so easy.
The next buses are already being sort of pencilled in for the pre-season games, details to be released as soon as we find out where and when they will be. Look out for the announcements in the usual places, and until then have a good summer doing whatever it is that you do until the rugby season gets under way again. If we have another like this one, we may be organising buses to the final, not just to the semi-final.
Happy holidays folks!”

As always these will be good quality and comfortable coaches including the all important ‘facilities’. Drinking of alcohol is of course allowed for rugby supporters while travelling in England, but please remember that this is a privilege and we have to behave responsibly if we want this very enjoyable pleasure to continue. It really is the best way to travel to away games with your fellow supporters for company.
